Installing a rearview camera on a Redhawk

Hello All. I'd like to install a wireless rearview camera (showing the traffic behind me rather than just pointing down at the hitch). Would you attach it to the top of the roof or to the top of the rear sidepanel (near the lights and existing hitch camera). Also, where would be the best place to connect the power line of the camera? Can I attach that to any of the existing power lines without losing any functionality of the existing lights / camera? Any concerns about drilling into the roof or side panel? Thanks again for the help - much appreciated. John

We had a wireless backup camera on a Airstream travel trailer...it actually came from the factory with that option installed. Worked great!

They used the rear marker lights to run power to the camera which was mounted center rear up high by one of the lights.

The camera screen mounted to dash with velcro or windshield with a provided suction cup. It plugged into a 12 volt cig socket.

The picture was great and even had sound...only thing was that you had to turn on the running lights for the camera to activate. No big deal really. I liked the fact that it would stay on all the time and I could monitor traffic behind me going down the road. Screen was color and had a really clear picture. I can't remember the name brand but it sure was a good one.

I have thought about adding one to my motor home. That Jayco factory camera is hard to see at the angle the screen is and very small picture. On my wish list!

Thanks again for the help Cabinetmaker. I'll try to grab the power from the running light. The only thing that "scares" me about driving the rig is that blind spot behind me. Hopefully this will take care of that.

I would think as high as you can get and angled down alot.. Something like this google image... The ANGLED DOWN of the camera reduces any flare up view from vehicles headlights approaching the rear of the RV at night...

I have a rear camera on my F150 Truck setup which only comes ON when I go to reverse. This gives me a great view showing the the rear hitch and has side feet markers as well as a center guide line. I can back right up to the trailer hitch and see the ball disappear under the trailer hitch... This view is hampered big time at night when other lights are pointing at the camera. Also rain drops and WX conditions really hamper the view. I have even seen a bug take out the view crawling across the camera lens. Using at night is really sometimes useless... This camera lens is mounted at the bottom of the FORD emblem on the rear tail gate...

I have a camera on my 2005 GH 31SS. It is factory installed, the monitor is on the drivers side sun visor. It is poor at best, black and white picture. It also has a rear view mirror on the windshield that has a dial and other switches on it. Does anybody have info on that? Looked in my owners manual and it doesn't explain what it does??
Is it possible to retro fit a newer back up camera on the existing wiring?
TIA
