Inverted strainer

I have a 30z and the water pump is mounted vertically. It looks like when they installed the strainer on the water line, they just screwed it directly to the water pump. But in the tightened position, it's upside down and I'm assuming it's ineffective when installed like that.

How can I get it right side up? Can I use a male/female adapter between the strainer and the pump? Thanks.

It fine. The inlet and outlet is on opposite sides of the screen. So no matter what the water has to go through the screen.

When you open the housing to clean the screen, it will dump a 1/4 cup of water. I just place an old shop towel under my bowl first.

Okay. I thought the strainer had to be right side up so the sediment would fall to the bottom of the screen. I'll leave it as-is, and that saves me time for other upgrades. Thank you.
