Inverter issues, Newbie to RV's

I am a complete newbie. I bought a 29ME and am working through my inexperience.
My problem is I can use the inverter to watch tv when the engine of is not running, but when I start the engine the outlet that the tv is plugged into is no longer powered. The light on the inverter switch is still on.
Is this normal? As it works now, the passengers in the rear can't watch TV while we are on the road and there is no power to plug in their phones etc.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

The inverter outlet has a 12 volt relay that kills power to the outlet when the ignition is on. You have to pull the outlet and cut the purple wire going to the relay. This is supposed to be a safety feature that keeps the ?driver? from watching TV while driving.

Seneca's are wired that way too... Even if the Generator is running and you have the chassis engine running, that outlet is disabled.
