King jack antenna question

For the first time since getting this rig we are in a state park on full hook ups but no cable for tv. So I’m thinking no big deal just press on the booster button See the green light and I will get local channels. Get nothing but message on tv that I have no signal. Opened up behind booster switch and checked tightness of cables. They were all loose but after tightening still get nothing. What am I missing? Any ideas of what to check / do next Are appreciated. Thanks for your responses. Take care

Enjoy the journey

Did you program it for antenna channels?

You need to setup your TV source to antenna (or air) and then run the channel scan setup. You should be good to go after that. You should find the settings in the TV setup menu.

Well problem fixed. I down loaded app to point antenna in best direction. Then I programmed channels and if found 6. Picture very weak and blurry not solid but I attribute that to my location. Thanks for help. Take care.

You can also go to antennaweb.org and enter an address. It will show you available stations and compass directions.

+1

But one weekend boondocking on the beach, we picked up a sub-channel playing old episodes of "Saved by the Bell" and "Bill Nye the Science Guy" from back in the day.

It was fun talking to my 5YO son about those shows from our childhood.

It's funny, he still doesn't understand broadcast television. We "cut the cable" years before he was born, so mostly all he gets is streaming at home. We have an antenna, but mostly he just watches PBS (no "commercials"). His grandparents record shows on their DVR and skip commercials. So when we watch live broadcast TV, he still asks us to "skip the commercials"...

If you're old enough to remember putting Tin Foil on the B&W set's rabbit ears...

Remember today's broadcasts are digital - which means it's almost all or nothing. Back in the analog days, you could find a weak signal and watch a snowy broadcast.

Digital means that signal has to be (a) strong enough and (b) clean enough to come in at all. If it doesn't meet a threshold - you get nothing.

We're by mountains and "mutlipath" can be a real problem too. Signal will bounce off something and also reach your antenna - the two signals, slightly out of sync, will confuse your set.

That said, I've enjoyed the King Jack antenna. I think its a good one.
