Leveling stands

Does anyone leave the jack stands down while the rv is at home between use? Not sure it it hurts the shafts or hydraulics to be left out xtended for extended periods.

Depends on your unit. If it is a hydraulic system leaving the pistons down can result in rust and corrosion. Cycle the units every few weeks to keep them lubricated and they will last. You can also hand spray them to keep them clean. Also if left too long some could loose pressure and the slides could get out of balance.

Thanks. Was thinking to keep a little pressure off the tires and suspension while stabilizing the unit. It is on a cement slab. Expect to be using it 4 to 6times a year.

Think of all the Rvs left in storage and in dealers lots. The suspension is designed for the unit to be running down the road. I believe the owners manual might point out a procedure for extended leveler use but might be wrong on this. I think the best thing to do for these units is to cycle and use them. Don’t leave them in any one position for extended periods of time. I keep my unit with the levelers up and then every few weeks level it and open the slides. Cycle the heat and run the generator for a half hour or so. Just to keep everything moving.
