Maxxair Vent Cover Color

I just purchased a brand new Maxxair vent cover. My air condition covers are black, but I wanted the vent cover to reflect the sunlight so I bought a white cover as opposed to the black or charcoal color. Does it really matter? What do you guys think as a it relates to the asthetics on the roof?

It's just personal preference. All of our covers were white. I added a black front cover in the bedroom to cut down on some of the light in the morning.

On the previous trailer, all the covers were black. Yes, it might have looked a little better being matched. No, I don't care what anyone thinks about my roof's appearance.

I chose white for the heat reflection. I didn’t want black covers up there soaking up heat and UV degrading faster.

Ditto. But would’ve done the same even if the other items on the roof were black (they are white). Who cares if they match? It’s the roof!

I went with smoke to match the black on the trailer and avoid soaking up heat.

IMO it doesn't matter if it doesn't match.

I prefer white for the added light/heat reflection benefit...., and use a vent insulator for total blackout if needed when the vent is closed.

I do have one of these, but it kind of limits that fresh mountain air And oxygen is at a premium here.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I feel much better about using the white now! LOL. Do they make these types of vent insulators for the skylight in the shower? The shower is located in a position that lets a lot of light into the bedroom and disturbs the Mrs. How can I get this fixed?

I use a Camco solar entry door cover over my bath skylight (perfect size)...., primary for cold weather camping and extreme outdoor temps when running the A/C. It will block light as well..., and attaches with a couple velcro tabs.

Camco cover: https://www.rvupgradestore.com/Refle...34DB823BC31AB5

I've also used the Reflectix 'unfaced' reflective foil insulation in my pass-thru storage and under bed areas. I also cut a piece for my kitchen skylight (larger than bath skylight) and use during cold weather camping. I cut the piece so it fits snug within the skylight and is held in place by the skylight's built in shade.

We use Reflectix covers cut with scissors to fit the windows and skylight. Sold in rolls at any hardware store. Comes in several sizes.

Attaching Pictures

Jaytalk, if you want to attach pictures try this.
After typing your response go down to where it reads manage attachments and tap it. You will see five files that you can click on then choose photo library on your phone, pick the picture you would like to upload. It will place it in your response.
Give it a try. Jimmyd

Same here on the smoke color. The other roof items are black, didn't want too much light blocked and didn't want white...smoke looks nice and meets the need.

I am planning to put a 10 speed MaxxFan in his Spring to replace the original equipment fan and was leaning towards smoke because I thought there would be less heat and light when camping in areas with overhead lighting. Now I'm having second thoughts, makes sense that white would reflect more heat.

So is it safe to say white lets in more light but less heat? And black lets in less light but more heat?

we installed the maxair 10 speed with remote in our bathroom with smoke cover. works great and like the color and look on the roof. of all the things on the roof, I didn't think one more square foot of dark would make that much difference. Originally thought the remote overkill - but sitting on pot and just push a button is nice, and wife a bit short to reach original cheap fan lid lifter - so she loves the automatic. Was an easy change out.
