Melbourne Rear TV Mount

I want to mount a television to the rear wall. What hardware should I use? All wall mounts I have installed used beefy wood screws into 2x4 studs. I found a Melbourne picture with a sticker for the mounting location but since this is a closet wall I am wondering what hardware to use for mounting.

I used through bolts with fender washers (larger dia than normal). The nuts and washers are in the closet but it is very stable instead of relying on the extra wood Jayco may have installed in the wall.

Mine isn’t the prettiest but I just used a small piece of wood and (4) 1-3/4” screws, none of which made it into the closet. Then used this to attach the mount. It was surprisingly very sturdy. There is definetely extra wood behind the paneling. Likely due to the fact they know TV’s will be mounted there.

Looks good. I am looking at MORryde TV mounts right now. I have not checked the wall for wire location or how much wood is behind the wall with a stud finder. I also need to figure out what size TV to install.

Yep, every time I install a screw, my mind is doing the ol "please don't hit a wire, please don't hit a wire". The majority of my mounts are 3M but yep you will need something sturdy for the TV. Not sure how big you can go, my little 19" almost gets in the way as it is. Probably not required but we always remove when traveling. The mount we used allows for instant removal/replacement. No idea why we even have the TV, pretty sure it has been used (1) time in 20 trips..

I agree about getting in the way and that is why I am thinking about mounting it on the door where it would not be in the way. I like the idea of taking it down when not needed but may not so easy with what I purchased.

My link insert is not working as well as yours but here it is:

As far as moving the TV we use this.

It comes with 2 mounts and 1 arm and I can move the TV to the house. As it turns out I haven't moved it to the house in over a year but I have moved it to a picnic table at camp and watched it outside.

Man you guys mounts cost more than my TV.....is this a Mercedes or something. Good luck with the door. While it seems solid, pretty sure it is paper thin. I was trying to use a screw one time while attempting to attach/secure my stow away lower bed platform and the screw went right on in. There definitely has to be some studs there but no idea where. Running the cable sounds like another project but that appears to be how we or at least I spend 1/2 my time - updating not camping.

Oh well, whatever you do - post it up. There are likely a few folks with the same idea and will want to know how it all goes. Good luck.

We reinforced the "inside" of the closet wall and then mounted the TV just like you would on any wall in your home. It's been there for two years with no issues, and it looks great.

If you mount where Jayco indicated and if the installer didn't forget to add the backer board you will be fine. I used through bolts with large fender washers just to be sure. I wanted easy removal and to be able to use the TV outside as well so $53.00 with 2 mounting bases wasn't that bad to me. Nothing wrong with cheaper ones mounted correctly.
