new to me 2009Melbourne 26A , house battery ?

I pick up the rig tomorrow morning. I have noticed that the battery bay is big enough for TWO batteries AND there is even an unattached battery cable dangling there. Definitely LOOKS like there should be two house batteries.
My question is, were two batteries standard on a 2009 Forde E450 26A or was it modified ? IF it was standard, the dealer better make it right but I want to know before I blow a fuse on him. I am leaving tomorrow so any quick response would be very much appreciated
Thanks, this is a great group and I am pleased to join your ranks and hope that as I rack up the miles, I can contribute

The 2009 sales brochure lists "house battery", singular. I didn't see a second house battery listed in the options either, so it's possible there's room, and the PO installed the second one, and it was removed for an unknown reason. Dead, badly corroded, a really new one he transferred to his new RV, or one of many other reasons.

the unfortunate conclusion that I came to as well.
Now, another decision. replace and add a battery or invest a serious upgrade involving the long list of pricey components that are these days hard to get a hold of
As I am heading to Arizona anyway, I am seriously considering swinging past the Battle Born Batteries place in Nevada
What's a small detour when in an RV with no destination punched into the GPS ?

As most people need to decide, is what power needs will you have or require

I live in AZ, boondocking mostly. Have a std batter in house but use Portable power station and portable solar panels primarily for my daily power

I've looked into full solar, a bunch of lifePO batteries, but dosent pencil out since I'll need my AC often and my Honda 2000 Genny is so cheap to run it would take years to pay off the Full Solar system vs the Honda Genny I have now

To be clear the Honda won't run my AC, the on board Genny does that, but solar won't run AC either

Usually a 3000-3500 minimum to get past the startup surge

Smaller can do it if you get a hard start system I think it's called
