Nub. 2007 Eagle 313. Floor Safe? Slide Awning fix?

First post, Parents just got a 2007 Jayco Eagle 313 RKS. (First RV) But I will be the one doing any maintenance/fixes for it.

Had 2 questions I hoped people here might be able to help with.

First, the Dealer Price Window Sticker (which I guess the original owner laminated, so its still with the manuals ) listed a "Floor Safe" (previous owner had no clue what it was. He only bought the RV as a temporary place for his son to live in when the sons house was damaged/rebuilt due to a hurricane, but the son instead stayed with neighbors.)

Googling found many references in floor safes in manufacturers/sellers descriptions, but no pictures. Any Idea what it is referring too? The ONLY thing I could think of would be a 1'x3' molded plastic bin under the front queen bed. [But I would call that under bed storage, Not a floor safe]

Second, I noticed that the main room slide awning has separated from the roof in the middle. (Probably from sagging due to rainwater collection) From a quick glance, it looked like it just pulled loose out from the roof side attachment rail as opposed to tearing along the rail. Assuming its not torn, will this be easy to reattach? Or is the awning under spring tension so that removing the roof rail to reinsert the awning under it again, would be difficult?

Thanks,
NJohnny

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State! We're glad you're here.

As part of the original equipment, there should be a steel key-locked safe, either in the closet, or under the bed.

The awning does have a spring in the roller tube, that when the lever on the forward arm by the tube, is released, assists in rolling the awning up. Also it has to be released again, to pull the awning out. This information is based on not knowing what brand of awning you have. I really don't know if it's a good idea to remove the rail from the roof. Usually the awning material is simultaneously slid into the roof rail, and the awning tube, just like you were replacing the material with a new one. There are some very good You Tube videos on just that process.

Good to hear. I will take another look under the bed, there is a space beside the plastic bin that has a bit of wood screwed down over it, I wondered what it was covering. (Thought there might be a water tank under there)

As for the awning... That makes sense, that it probably slides into the track from one end. I will be up there redoing all the caulking around all the roof penetrations soon and will take a better look at that time...
