Problem with map lights

On a trip just completed, the two map lights over the driver's and passenger's doors remained lit until I removed the bulbs. This happened in my 2016 Greyhawk 29MV with a Ford E450 chassis. I tried opening and shutting both doors, turning the ignition on and off and I disconnected the negative cable from the chassis battery to see if that would reset something. As I am typing this, I just thought, could those lights possibly be connected to the house battery? When I disconnected the negative cable, I didn't check to see if the lights turned off. They appear to be part of the Ford cutaway so I assumed they are powered by the chassis battery.

Normally those maps lights turn on when you open the driver's side door and stay on for a short period of time. I don't remember if they turn on when using the passenger door. The button switches near each light would not turn them off.
Any ideas about what could be causing this?

Do you have your dome light switch rolled on. I don't have this motorhome, but in my truck there is a roller switch that adjusts the brightness of the dash lights and if you roll it all the way to the end it turns on the dome lights.

Wondering if this might be it for you.

Thanks for your reply, Rusty. I am trying to locate the dash dimmer switch. I don't see a roller type switch. Does anyone know how to dim/brighten the dash lights on a newer (2016) E450?

On my Seneca those lights are controlled with a 3 way dimmer switch, one side is always on, the other is on with the door open and center position is off. Not sure if its the same on yours but thought I would throw it out, I have battled them many times trying to figure out how to get lights to turn off lol.

On my 2016 E450, the roller is just to the left of the steering column. in the area of black trim.

Rustysocket,
I found the roller switch! It was right in front of my face!! I forgot that the dimmer roller switch also turns on the map lights. Thank you for your help.

Thanks also to Tom and jcoyle for your replies. Sometimes the obvious is too easy so you ignore it. Good thing I saw the problem before my battery went dead. On the "bright" side, I cleaned the corrosion on the negative battery terminal and found a loose wire and tightened the wire nut that attached it.

Glad that was it. It's always nice when it's something simple and not broken.

I think you just solved my problem. We bought a used 2016 Redhawk 26XD last summer and I haven't been able to figure out how to turn the map lights off.
