Redhawk 24B

This is a quick question,

Did anybody replaced awning on Redhawk 24B? I'm looking into original fabric that Jayco uses or something maybe better that is other in your eyes.

How hard is it to replace it? Do I need professional to do it?

Greatly appreciated!

There are a couple of Youtube videos. Brian (RV with Tito) just did his and I think he's more convinced that he should have farmed it out.

What year Redhawk? Manual or automatic awning? Do you have a helper?

Ours is an automatic, and I have a helper. When it's time, I might try it myself.
But I'll have my traveling RV mechanic on speed-dial, just in case.

Having an automatic awning means you don't have to deal with the large spring inside the awning tube. It reminded me of a large garage door spring with similar "bad outcomes" if handled improperly.

Then, like I said, I might try it myself. My wife is very handy; I often let her tackle a number of FixIt chores on the RV by herself. It looked like a two-person job to me.

The awning manufacturer, for ours, is actually about 10 miles away. I figure if I mess up, I could always walk into the reception area with a box of LaMar's Donuts and see if anyone would give me a hand.

We just replaced our fabric this past June, on our manual awning. The DW and I did it ourselves, and it wasn't too bad of a job. It did take a little longer due to a couple of retaining screws in the roller tube that broke the heads off from corrosion. The fabric was original from 2012. After a lot of researching, we ordered one from Tough Top Awnings in Washington State.

https://www.toughtopawnings.com/

Much better material than original, and very good customer support when I called with a question. I believe the actual owner answered my call. They have several videos on their web site on actual replacements showing how they did it. I can recommend both the company, and the product. Not a ton of color options, and nothing with a pattern, but much thicker one ply material. I can recommend using two step ladders, and sometimes a third helper would've been handy, but not necessary.
