Question Replacement for day/night shades - 31DS hallway

Fought the narrow day/night shades in the hall of our 2011 31ds since we bought new. Have paid to have them fixed several times and now both are broken again. I am out of patience and hate that I can't put them up and get some daylight in!

Anyone replaced those shades? What have you done? All other blinds (at least so far) have been fine. I think it is because the hall windows are so narrow.

Any suggestions appreciated!

What keeps breaking ? Is it the plastic bobbins that anchor the string ?

I replaced all the plastic ones in our unit with metal ones. A few of them had too many knots in the string and as a result had the string under way too much tension which was breaking the plastic bobbins.

The repairs I have paid for have been to the strings on both and a spring (or at least that's what they said) on another. Both are now just hanging loosely and off center, so I don't know what is broken. We have never removed them, always paid the dealer to fix and each time it has cost between $50 and $100.

I replaced all of them in my last rig. The ones in my new , 4 year old, Jayco seem to be holding up some better but I have had to repair a few strings and anchors. The smaller ones are ok but the large ones are hard toi get adjusted for me. When they break, they will be replaced with blinds.

I find the shades can really be a PIA to work. Even in a friends TT, they just seem unreliable and flimsy. Like you could easily pull too hard and pull it off the wall flimsy.

When the first two strings failed I could see the hand writing on the wall. This was going to be an ongoing periodic maintenance issue.

I took 'em all out and replaced them with Levolor mini blinds. Problem solved.

I'm leaning toward the Levolor mini blind solution. Are there some kind of anchors available that will hold the bottoms against the wall so they don't move around during travel, or do you just pull them all the way up?

Busguy - where did you source the metal bobbins from?
