I use them on all three slides in my 2011 Melbourne, but the one clear to the rear of the coach in the bedroom I leave off and let the one closest to the bathroom wall take care of holding it in. I have talked to RV shops and have heard that a lot of people use them and a lot of people don't. I have had motorhomes for many years and would rather err on the safe side.

My 2011 31SS came with them as well. I use them on long trips or if we start out in the rain. Yes the rear one is a HUGE PAIN!!! Fortunately i have small wrists and can (with some discomfort) get it adjusted. I found that if you swivel the ends only enough to get past the trim and then use the front trim (around the slide) to get the pad oriented properly - it can be done. So I consider this as practice for the circus when we retire.

Have a '12 31SS and I use my slide travel bars. Yes, the rear one is a pain to get in and out, but after a few times working blind it gets easier. My dealer did not mention the slide bars in the PDI, but when I found them in the rear closet and called, they said I should use them.

I have never used the lock, I've never had any issues caused from not using the lock, I watch my mirrors frequently while towing and there just isn't any movement of the slide while I am driving.

I too have heard of a few people causing problems with their slide gear/motor because they forgot about the lock and tried to open the slide... just saying

I think they are called slide transit bars, I have them and use them on my '12 Greyhawk 31SS. The rear one is a pain to install but after a little practice I got so I can get it in place. I have left numerous suggestions to Jayco that they should be able to design something that is easier to install.

I put a warning alert over the slide out switch reminding me to remove the transit bar before deploying the slide. So far it's worked!

Has anyone checked with Jayco for the requirements and proper use of the bars? I heard that they were only in case of a slide motor failure, which leaves the slide loose to travel out on it's own. I have a piece of 2x4, just in case, per suggestion from dealer tech.

I use mine in our 12 Greyhawk 31DS. I do uncomfortable about the fact that they push the trip out a bit when installed.
