screw type expanders

My new SS 31 came with two screw type expanders and the instructions says they are to be used when traveling to hold the slideout in. I can install the forward one but the rear one is impossible to try to expand. Does anyone use these and are they that important when driving.
Thanks

Are you referring to slide locks? Does it look something like this?

Here is a recent thread discussing the subject. If your unit came with them I would say use them.

It sounds like you are referring to the bars discussed in the "Travel Bar" thread started a few weeks back.... ----> Here <-----

Does anyone who has a SS 31 use these and how do you put the one is the rear of the slide lacking any space.

For what it's worth, mine came with the travel bars. There are stickers on each end of the slide indicating the area for the travel bar placement. I dont have room to get the rear bar in either.

My dealer told me that since my slide out was electric instead of hydraulic that they were not needed.

If they came with the RV, I would use them. They are a pain but we had a 5th Wheel with them and used them. I think it is "just in case" it is raining real hard and the slides out may move back and forth a little when traveling.

I had that problem also at first. But now that I know how to place and tighten it properly it stays in place.
