Seneca Flag Pole Mount...

Finally tackled a project that I have been wanting to do for a while. Fab’d up a front receiver hitch flag pole mount. Things are really tight in the bumper opening but on the drivers side I was able to add a 1 1/4” receiver tube using 2 of the tow hooks mounting bolts. Getting to the top of the bolts was the worst part of the project, as I said, it’s tight in there!

Tow hooks

Hi noticed the tow hooks did you install those yourself? Mine did not come with them and where we go having them may come in handy . If you did do the install do you have part numbers? I have a similar set up that goes into my rear receiver, always something pops up that peaks my growing to do list, thanks Gord

The tow hooks are factory, mine is on the S2 chassis so maybe it’s something new for that chassis. I have a pole mount on my Cargo Trailer but wanted something for when we aren’t towing the trailer. I also wanted it up front so it’s not close to the body at all for windy days.

THAT was a lot of fabrication for a Flag Pole holder...

Don't ask me how I know...

I thought it was easier to mount the flag pole to our "Always with us on the road" trailer right behind the hitch on the rear of our Seneca.

You went way above the work I did with designing the frame mounted receiver. Is there something else you use the receiver for besides the flag-pole?

Well, I haven’t come up with anything else but I’m sure I will dream up something 😂

Well... I am expecting something BIG soon.... you come up with some amazing fabrication ideas - and execute them with quality that is top-notch.

a couple of my non JOF friends have seen some of your pictures... and have Plas tables at the ready to spit out some parts and of course... drink a few while fabbing those ideas.

We have spent quite a bit of time on the rodeo circuit with our Son and Granddaughters. This is boondocking in fields and near arenas. Having seen a Class A get stuck and then a bunch of "Cowboys" said Hold my beer and watch this" and proceeded to yank with pickups to get the Class A further stuck, I investigated how to tow the Seneca from the front end. Without those tow hooks, there is no way to hook on with out damaging stuff. Tow hooks come from Freightliner and if I remember right about $40 a piece. Installation was fairly straight forward with help of Son and Son in Law, during a family camping trip. Bolt holes already exist in Freightliner framei

Well my first thought was a stripper pole but the DW shot that idea down real quick....

I just assumed all of the Senecas had the hooks, even when I had a couple FL70 box trucks they even had them. It would figure the holes are already there as frames are usually set up for all accessories. They give you a good, simple hookup for a tug if needed!
