More work space in the cab of the 2017 seneca:
I'm looking at trying to get more useable workspace in the cab as we all know theres not a typical glove compartment. I'm looking at fabricating / buying a fold away tray of some sort and attache it to the dashboard (The area that looks like a missing glove compartment) using molies. Does anyone know what is behind this area?
Also does anyone know what is behind the reddish brown plate on the headliner where the cab lights exist. This looks like a hollow area behind this plate that could be used for storage an addition to the 2 areas on the drivers and passenger side.
I have photos of the area I'm talking about.
Thanks
John

On my 2014 behind that passenger side dash is the heating/air conditioning assembly, there is a few inches of clearance. I've had mine off several times for dash mods and satellite radio tuner installation. But that cover is just plastic, not sure how much weight it would support but I suspect not much.
The upper area on mine is not "framed" like it is on yours but it is open behind my headliner, several owners have installed electronic devices up there. A CB radio for example or a ScanGauge display. That is likely just a cover up there on yours.

I have a Motorhome built by another manufacturer on the same M2 chassis as you. On my unit a CB radio is mounted through this brown plate and also a mic holder is screwed to the face. Behind this area it is open.

Excellent Thanks all.
Rob yea... I didn't think that would hold much. Maybe I'll see if I can find some kind of console for trucks and put it in the middle.

How did you access the side of the black water tank from the wet bay?
I have a 2016 HJ and it appears to have the side wall of the bin in the wet bay and then another wall before I get to the tapered black tank?

He now even has a model with speakers! I am going to mod mine to include them!
I already swapped my original dash speakers for Alpine units, plus I have an Alpine subwoofer mounted under the front passenger seat. Add those speakers in the console and I will really be jamming!

Not really a mod but really doesn’t deserve a new thread....I was constantly getting dirt and debris in the drivers side bay right in front of the rear tire. Could never figure out where it was coming from till today. Found a hole that is wide open to the ground right in front of the rear tire so it was just blowing up into the compartment. Capped it with a piece of aluminum....we’ll see if that takes care of it.

For those that have swapped out the fresh water tank Styrofoam support with a plywood support, what size piece of plywood did you use?

When I installed mine I did not have any plywood accessible so I glued up some 3/8 flooring and built my own plywood. It came out to just over 1 inch thick. If I was doing it again I would use 3/4 advantec. This product is very stable if it gets wet and is strong enough for the 6 inch unsupported overhang. The sheet is about 44 by 40 if I remember correctly.

Entry Step Lights
I always hated the whimpy Amber light that comes on when you open the door under the step. Today I upgraded to a couple LED lights and is a very simple upgrade. I cut a piece of aluminum and drilled mounting holes to match the holes the original Amber light used, mounted 2 waterproof LED lights up and wired to the existing wire for the light. Took about 1/2 hour and is MUCH brighter now. Before someone mentions the missing mounting screw, it snapped off on installation so I will fix that tomorrow
