SiriusXM Antenna

Is it possible to run a SiriusXM antenna from the roof through the Solar Ready access? I do have solar panels installed. Then into the cab and behind the dash?

If not, has anyone had success using a magnetic mount antenna though the engine bay and onto the hood? This would allow me to remove it when not in motion.

Just trying to save the labor costs of having a dealer or stereo shop install it. Sounds like it is easy to add the tuner but the antenna is a problem.

That's exactly what I did. Ran the cable out the door, behind the fender, and out the front edge of the hood. I stick it up under the hood when not in use, and when we travel, switch it out and stick it out on the front edge, to get in front of the cab over. So, far, it has received signals fine.

Barry,

Not sure about the first part of the question but what I did was go through where the power to my awning came out. The power wires came from a cabinet. I was able to fish the wire down through the cabinet, down the wall, under the cab floor and up into the dash. As for the antenna itself, I went up on to the roof from the awning and stuck it to the top with adhesive. Great reception.

Best of luck with your project.

Rob

We just had a new head unit installed with Sirius.
I had them install the antenna on the hood with super sticky adhesive tape.
