Valve Extenders

Hi Everyone,

I have a TPMS that I am attempting to install on my 29 ME. The rear inside dual wheel has a braided stainless valve extension. The sensor can't seem to depress the schrader valve enough to get air pressure. Has anyone else has this problem? If so any recommendations for a different valve extension that will work with the sensor?
I appreciate any help!

Thanks,

I have a TPMS on my braided valve extender on my duals as well, no issues encountered. Which TPMS are you running? I’m using TST.

I have a Tire Tracker 400. I did try different sensors to verify that it wasn't a bad sensor. Sensors look the same as other brands.

I have the TST setup and had issues with the sensor on the extender as well. I also didn’t like the extra weight on the end of it. I changed to the flow through sensor attached directly to the valve stem and haven’t had any issues in 3 years.

We didn't use a TPMS system on our Greyhawk, but we did get TireMan Valve Stems for all 6 tires. These are not extensions, but replacement, solid valve stems. They are much nicer than the extensions. Our Greyhawk came with the braided extensions and they were okay. The TireMan Valve Stems are very nice and make airing up much easier.

We had the braided stainless valve extensions on our 2018 Greyhawk 29MV. The day prior to a trip, while I was doing my preparation and due diligence, I found a flat inside rear tire. Fortunately we were parked, so there was no damage to the tire. When the service technician arrived, he told me, before he even started his work, that the flat was due to a leak from the valve extension. He pulled both wheels, and we discovered he was correct, that the extension had leaked. Both extensions were placed in the trash, never to be seen again. On my "to-do" list is the replacement of the rubber valve stems with a higher quality longer metal valve stem.

You might try adding a 3/4" valve extender to the braided extenders. I had the same problem and it solved my problem.

These from O'Reilly Auto parts look like what I use.
