2010 Designer 35RLTS - First Cruise

After taking delivery of my new Designer about 7 weeks ago I towed it 35 miles to my home base and didn't move for 5 weeks. During this period I wanted to make sure everything was working normally before my first "cruise". The only problem I had during this time was a small fresh water leak going into the back of the head (Yep, I'm a boater). It just wasn't tightened adequately at the factory. No problems since I "fixed" it.
I also installed two 6 volt golf cart batteries during this time since my first trip was going to be 5 days of boondocking. No problems here and all worked great during the trip. At the end of 5 days the batteries were still at over 50% charge. I only ran the generator each morning long enough to perk the morning pot.
This was a 600 mile trip round trip. On the way home three of the glass lens from the recessed ceiling fixtures fell out. Two of them hit carpet and were fine, but the third one fell on top of one of the slides and broke. I was lucky that I noticed the lens was gone before I put the slide out. That will be something else to check visually before putting the slides out when setting up.
I have to say that one leaky water line and a broken lens isn't much of a warranty list so far.

Sounds Great, Glad your shake down cruise was good and you were almost problem less. Enjoy your new rig we love ours too.
We have had a few problems with our Designer but after a couple trips back to the dealer everything is great.

Was this trip for the Petite LeMans you planned to do? If so, how'd it go?

Yes this was the Petit Le Mans trip. It was great. No problems with the rig as I posted and all went well. One highlight to the trip, my daughter and son-in-law were there with another couple in a MH and Friday morning my daughter called and asked if they could come to my 5'er to cook breakfast. They wanted the additional room and they brought everything including one skillet. I had already eaten, but couldn't resist eating again.
The race was excellent also. I plan to do it again next year.

Ed,

Sounds like you guys had a great trip. I love racing, IRL mostly, but am not familiar with the Petit Le Mans so I am going to look that one up. Thanks for sharing!

Glad to hear the barreries lasted so long. I am thinking about taking my 5'er to the Indy 500 in May. Would be there 4 nights so it seems to me like it will work out ok! Thanks for the info!
