2018 Jayco North Point 381FLWS - Gray water tank air gap

Purchased this 5er 8 months ago new, noticed the front gray tank filled quickly because the shower backed up with 1-2 in of water when taking a shower, now realizing that even empty the shower backs up the same. As soon as you open the release valve, when empty the water flows right out of shower. I would think there is a missing air gap for the front tank is why the shower backs up but not sure what to look for, but before I take it to the dealership for warranty work want to have the data to back me up.

Anyone ever experience this ?

Not sure if this has anything to do with it but mine came with a device inline on the shower drain instead of a ptrap. This didn’t work as it was designed and let the smell back into the shower. I took it out and put in a ptrap like it should have had and my problem was solved. The device had a soft rubber membrane in it that was supposed to close when water pushed on it like a check valve but didn’t work. Yours might be completely closing causing your issue. The when u open the drain it sucks the water through
