I want to remove my 5th wheel hitch head assembly from the Bach of my truck so I can haul something. I have a Husky 16000. Does anyone know approximately how much it weighs? Can two men lift it from the tailgate to the ground?
I remove mine by myself. I will usually remove the 2 pins holding the hitch onto the base to make them lighter. When doing it that way, it's not bad at all.

I remove our Reese 15,000 hitch quite frequently. Neither piece weighs 100 since I am probably unable to lift 100 pounds anymore. That's why I bought the Honda E2000 generator since I couldn't life the 3000. However, if you have some help, don't turn it down.
Thanks for your help. My son and I took it out in one piece this morning. No problem at all.
Another way is to leave it hooked up to the 5th wheel pull the pins at the base, lower the landing gear and raise the hitch about 1 or 2 inches and drive out from under it leaving it hang on the king pin. When you want to reinstall it just drive back under it and lower into the bed of the truck using the landing gear on the fifth wheel. Then release it from the king pin and move it until you have it hooked to the rails. I have had to do this a couple of times when alone and did not feel like messing with it by myself.
