Basement Baggage Doors

Does anyone know how to adjust the baggage door latch? This door keeps popping open. It’s happened 3 or 4 times, while it’s just sitting in my garage. I’ve checked it each time and even made sure It was shut well and locked. The issue is when it’s shut and locked it only takes a very light tug and the door pops open. It seems like the latch isn’t catching on much. My outside kitchen latches are the same way. It’s a 2020 North Point 375BHFS.

Sounds like the little plate the lock turns to hold the door is to short or they drilled it to far from the edge of the door. could you add a shim where the door closes to make the plate have something to grab onto? Alternatively, look around and see if you can find or make a longer latching cam plate that would actually go far enough. Maybe look at a local rv place for one with a longer cam plate and replace the whole lock.

You either have to adjust the the depth of the u-bolt or shim it up or down. Look at the other doors. It should be adjusted about the same.

If you loosen the latching mechanism you may find the opening cut for the latch is cut a little generous and the latch can be moved enough to provide a secure capture. I found that was the case when replacing the entry door latch.

Both of my basement doors would open even when locked. The dealer had a technician get inside the basement with a flashlight so they could see why the doors would not stay shut. Another technician closed and locked the door and opened the door. One of the door they shimmed up the U shaped latch. The other door they bent the U shaped latch out toward the door. That was two years ago and both doors are still staying shut.
