Bed Size difference?

I am comparing this to the 2019 Jayco Pinnacle 36KPTS specs and see the King size bed it comes with is a 72 X 80 measurements. I want to swap it out with a Sleep number that is 76 X 80 . Both are listed as 'King Size" So what I am seeing is the Jayco bed is not a 'True' King size bed. Will the larger fit? What about the 'California King' at 72 X 84?

Then the other question is have any of you added the 'adjustable base'? The one that tilts the back up? Can it be done? What have you all done to your beds?

Please fill me in with your ideas.

Steve

I changed my bed in a front living pinnacle with a Serta Glenmoore from Sam's club. Makes it a little tighter getting around the sides. It's also taller which covers the little shelf on the sides. It' also Heavier so it's hard to get to the storage underneath but can be done. All that said when I lay down on it I'm out like a light.

There is an RV King from Sleep Number that measures 72 x 80 - which we are looking at.

We don’t have a king size bed in our 2017 North Point 377RLBH, (wasn’t an option till mid year changes) it came with a queen size Denver mattress that was ok, but not great. I put in our 10 yr old queen size sleep number from our old home. It is truly 60x80”, which is about 2-3” longer than the Denver one. Width of the Denver was listed at 60” per their 2016 North Point brochure floorplan. So, I modified the platform for a 3” extension with 1x8” pine and some pressure treated 2x6” stock I had on hand.

It misses the dresser by 1/2”, and makes for a firmer seat when sitting on the foot edge of the bed. It lifts much easier too. And I added a shoe rack below.

I thought maybe I should’ve went with 1x12” for a more aesthetic appearance filling in the corner cutouts, but it’s not seen except when making the bed.

We did purchase the RV King - from Camping World because it was about $500 cheaper (on sale) the Sleep Number. We then put a 4" topper on as well & DW slept well this past weekend. We drilled several holes for the tubing and power and it is so much lighter to pick up the board. We were able to use the same sheets. The only draw back (if you want to call it that) - your are definitely higher on the bed - about even with the "nightstand".

Also price shop the Sleep Number store.

They beat the CW price when we bought ours a few years ago.

We did check the Sleep Number store before purchasing from CW. We had coupons for money off at Sleep Number BUT RV5 didn't qualify.

We have the Sleep Number RV queen. My understanding the RV beds have the rounded corners on foot end, ours does unlike our house King that is square. When we got ours, Camping World was only place you could get the RV model.

I had a short rv queen mattress on my old motorhome but what I did was insert a plywood board if front of the platform. I just moved everything back.
It made the bed hard to lift up but you could adjust the lift shocks are put on stronger one.
