I had helper springs put in and it leveled things out nicely. most of the time I hardly know it's back there.

I have a 1/2 ton silverado with a 5.3L V8, 3:73 gearing and helper springs. I tow a 27.5 RLTS Eagle HT with no problems. Also towed a 27.5 BHS jay flight 5th wheel before the HT with my old 3:23 gear no problems

Do helper springs give a stiffer ride when not towing or are they only "activated" when the weight is heavy enough.

My Tundra rides just as smooth as without them.

Max Payload usually is people, what's in the box and TT tongue weight , or so the Ford dealer says for 2011 F150. Every year numbers change. 5th wheel pin is in the box, becomes part of the people and what's in the box. Safe Max Tow weight is what's on wheels, TT or 5th wheel before the frame, drive train and tires give up. HD F150 usually has 6 or 7 lugs and E rated tires.

I've heard the term "I hardly know it's back there" a lot of times. But I gotta tell ya...even with my overkill set-up, I still know it's back there
