Eagle or North Point
We are interested in buying a North Point 315RLTS or an Eagle 336FBOK. Eagle is longer with additional 1/2 bath but is lighter than the North Point? What are the pros and cons or differences between the two?
We currently own a Lacrosse Lite camper and have tons of problems. Don’t know about another lite camper?

What is your tow vehicle?.......an extremely important factor. North Point is going to be heavier. We owned a North Point 31RLTS and was extremely pleased with it. Definitely a step up from the Eagle. It all depends on what you want to spend and what amenities you feel you want. The only reason we traded our North Point for a Pinnacle is we went full time and wanted a bigger and wider model.

Like AKRUEBBE Said it all depends on what you want. The North Point is going to be a little better (supposedly). We have the 315 and are very satisfied.
IMHO if you are just a weekend warrior and a couple of long trips a year you may be happy with the Eagle.
The more you go the more you like the better things in a more upscale trailer.
You will just have to go and look at both. Then you will see and feel the difference.

Ford 250 heavy duty diesel. It says 15200 is tow weight.
We go about 4 times a year, 10 days at a time. Want this to last us to eventually be more full time. Love the 315, but then saw the Eagle with the additional half bath, so now am torn. However, we have not actually been in the Eagle.

You will be quite a bit over weight with the 250 and North Point (based on payload capacity), but certainly wouldn't be the first. We are even overweight with our F350 and 315RLTS. But we really love it. The extra half bath would be nice though. Tough choice.

The North Point might be too much pin weight for the F250. We have an F250 and I did a lot of number crunching (I'm a mechanical engineer) during our search for a 5th wheel. I determined that we could not safely tow a North Point with our truck. So we chose the Eagle 321RSTS.
Check your payload and axle weight ratings sticker on the driver side door frame and be brutally honest with yourselves on how much your truck can safely handle. Good luck!

My old camper was a Eagle Super Lite 30.5 DBSA it had the half bath. We really loved it and we miss it now. The grandsons used the half bath and that kept ours much cleaner. It also gives you 2 black tanks that will extend you boondocking time. Again we miss the half bath.

Payload is 3000-3100 for the truck. How do you figure what the maximum weight is? We do not pull it with any fluid but do have a lot of stuff. We just figured tow weight to gross weight....

I would check the sticker in the driver's door jamb for your vehicle's try payload (cargo capacity). It's doubtful your payload is that high. For reference, the payload of our F350 is 3300. The pin weight of our NP 315RLTS is about 3000 lbs. You also have to include the weight of driver and passengers, other cargo, and your hitch.

No matter how you try to do the numbers you are going to be overweight for that truck and the North Point.
What year is your truck?
Do you have the camper package option?
But with that said I see people pulling with them all the time.

I am pulling a 2019 321RSTS Eagle with a GMC 2500. I am at 87% towing capacity with the eagle. You will be overloading the truck going with anything larger. GMC max. Bed hitch weight is 3000 lbs. My Eagle fully loaded with tanks empty has a pin weight of 2620 lbs.

we have the setup in our sig. on our last trip the pin weight was 3,840 lbs. and thats with empty tanks. the carrying capacity of the truck is 6,500 lbs but we ran right up to the COMBINED CAPACITY REAL QUICK. also we were cut off once and glad we had a lot of truck under us. we have had both the eagle and the Northpoint, the north point in our opinion is nicer but you have to make sure you have the proper vehicle to tow it safely. The deficiencies of the truck will only show which ugly head when you need it the most.

Most of the replies here regard weight, and that's important. Another factor is number of bells and whistles on the North Point versus the Eagle. I have owned both. Our Eagle was a little too basic in terms of amenities so we upgraded to the North Point RKTS311. Considerably heavier with many more features. Unfortunately this particular unit was a lemon. The large Schwintek slide never worked right. The trailer was so leaky, that exhaust from the truck left the dishes in one of the cabinets covered with soot. In theory, these problems should have been taken care of by the dealer under warranty. After multiple trips, with no results, we finally threw in the towel and moved to the Pinnacle. After two years, no problems so far. I'm not disrespecting the North Point as a possibility, just saying that with extra features comes a greater possibility of service issues. Competent RV repair facilities can be difficult to find. The simpler the trailer, the less likely things will go wrong.

Agree with mtdawg on all things said. We looked at the North Point and Pinnacle and ended up with the Eagle. Why? We actually preferred the simpler lines and the other two just weren't 'our' style. Nothing wrong with them, you just have to go with what fits you.

Tforbes,
What state do you live in? I’m leaning on selling my north point if your truck can tow the north point.

Clarks Ferry, Iowa. CORE park along the Mississippi river.
Site 10 is best but my rig barely fits.
last pic was site 42 or 44 I think. Lots of room in those and fresh water is right behind me.

Is that the river right in front of you?! If so, it appears there's no levy! I'm originally from New Orleans so not used to seeing the Old Miss without a levy!

I would take your F250 to a CAT scale and weigh it under loaded conditions (full fuel, passengers). Subtract the CAT scale weight from your F250's specified GVWR..., and subtract the CAT scale rear axle weight from the F250's specified rear GAWR.
The least 'delta' weight of the two is your "available" payload capacity to support a loaded FW pin weight and hitch weight. Average loaded FW pin weights ideally fall in the 20% to 25% range of same FW gross loaded weight.
Also, ignore the published FW UVW's (web site & brochures), refer to the 'as-shipped' UVW's noted on the yellow sticker attached to the side of the FW. I bet the yellow sticker UVW will be at least 400lbs heavier..., possibly more depending on options.
Bob
