receiver hitch on rear of fifth wheel

I have a 2017 Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel that came from the factory with a 300lbs receiver hitch on the rear. I have a trailer to haul my 4 seater RZR 1000 on and would like to haul it behind the 5th wheel. I know the current hitch will not work. has anyone put a heavier receiver hitch on the rear which was frame welded and if so can you make it safe. Thx, Fidousmc

I took mine to a welder and he said it would be easier to tear that one off and just put a new one on, I called a couple of other places to see what they would say and they’re answer was the same, $375 installed.

Your EAGLE has a trailer hitch the PINNACLE has a cargo hitch. There is a difference from the factory. You should have safety chain hooks and wiring the PINNACLE does not.

Eagle HT's do, not Eagles. Full Eagles have the light weight cargo hitch too. I don't know if they have an Eagle or Eagle HT. Signatures aren't shown on my phone.

I have read that the frame is not designed to haul a trailer behind. I would not mind paying to have a good hitch welded to the frame, just not sure if the frame is strong enough.

I’ve owned both an HT and an Eagle. I can confirm, safety chains holes and trailer plug on the HT. Just a cargo hitch on Eagle.

Learned something new. When we were FW shopping we were told that we had to step down to the EAGLE to be able to tow the GC. JAYCO told the dealer in no uncertain terms "NO TOWING with the PINNACLE". Liked the PINNACLE too much so we gave up on towing.

Piggyback on Grumpy's post.

My 17' North Point 381 has a cargo hitch. No place for safety chains and no wiring there.
