Fifth Wheel towing nose high

Well towed my 27.5 Eagle HT 10000 km. including across te Canadian Rockies with it hooked up as in the pic. Had no issues. No abnormal tire wear. No sway. No issues with wind driving across the prairies.Got hit with a huge wind gust coming out of the Rockies that literally blew the whole rig sideways (Felt like 3 feet) with no loss of control. So I see no need to change the setup. Do you?

Being level is more about weight distribution. I think. As nose high as you are, the rear axle is taking the lions share of the load. Possibly over it’s spec.

How much space between the rails and the 5ver. it looks like you can drop the hitch or raise the pin box and if you don't take the unit off road then the rule for space is a fist height or 4" min. also are you pulling with a lift on the truck. When towing nose high you end up with a higher load on the rear trailer axle and more rear end sway and you might be over height of 13' 6". you should correct it if you can, a blow out on the trailer and these 5vers get destroyed.

I have the same trailer but mine tows more level. I don't think the nose high configuration looks particularly attractive but that's just my opinion. As light as our trailers are I doubt you are doing any serious damage, but the points made about height and clearance are good to check out.

Stock truck no lift

This is a stock truck with No lift.

I will try to drop it a little but the Curt with puck system iI think brings the fifth wheel height up at least 1.5 inches. Maybe I can lift the pin box up a bit and still be a fist height over the rail.

I have the puck system also and had to drop the hitch head to the lowest holes on my new truck. My last Ram truck that had standard bed rails and it was in the middle holes and the fiver pin box is on the bottom holes and didnt have to move it. My 5vr is 17000 lbs loaded with 3125 lbs on the pin, the washer dryer added over 200lbs to the pin as it is in the closet in the front of the rig.

I posted this same problem with my 5er. Just look it up to see what I did. Good luck in your leveling process if you chose to do.
