Fill fresh water tank or keep faucet open?

Hi all!!

First time winter camping! Tonight, it's going to get below freezing. I don't have a heated hose, so wondering what my best option would be. (First few days we just left it winterized, but humping water got old fast. )

Should I leave hose connected and drip faucet, or should I fill fresh water tank and work from that? We have a 2017 29.5 bhds.

If the worst thing that could happen is I need a new hose, I'm not so concerned. Ultimately, I'm looking for the option that has the least likelyhood of doing any real damage to the rv.

And for the record, it wasn't supposed to be this cold when we left the house!!

Thanks as always for the advice.

How cold are you expecting it to get? I've been out when it's in the low 20's at night and 40's during in the day never had a problem using the on-board tanks. I would disconnect the hose at night to keep from freezing the plastic fittings going into the trailer. I also keep the cabinet doors open and have Plumbing that runs through them to ensure they get heat keep anything from freezing.

I file the fw tank and use from there. It takes a while for the water to freeze, and it freezes from the top down.

Or disconnect and keep a couple of gallon jugs for flushing at night.

Datx, I'd expect the hose will be the first thing to freeze. As Jag says, where are you and how cold will it be? We've camped in both TT's in the upper 20's with no probs. If it's below freezing for 2-3 hrs and hits high 30's or 40's in the day I don't think I'd worry. You don't say if your rig has the belly insulation.
We were along the Gulf coast a few years back and it got below freezing for a few hours. I got up 0200-0300 or so to use the head and toilet wouldn't flush, no water. Oh crap!, says I, thinking we'd froze up. Next morning I discover the CG had shut off the water as a precaution and all was well in the light of day.
