fresh water tank

This maybe a dumb question, but how can be sure your fresh water tank is empty? We only use state/county/private campgrounds with water, how can I be sure I am not carrying around water in my tank? Is there a way to drain it, if there is any in the tank?

Open the drain valve. Once water stops coming out its empty.

citgodan, on my 2017 27.5RKDS, there is a low point drain behind the passenger side rear tire. This drains the fresh water tank.

After the low point stops running try jacking up the front and then dropping the tongue low just in case it is not really the "low point".

Even if there is a little in there it is unlikely it will be a problem. If you are worried just sanitize it by adding some bleach to the water the next time you are getting ready to leave, drain it and flush it out. Then fill it before you leave or at the park.

I and most others sanitize and flush before trips if your RV has sat for awhile.

Leave it open after you drain it for the ride home. Any un-drained water will likely be splashed out. What's left will not hurt anything.

On my 5th wheel there is a low point drain on the driver side right in front of the front axle for the fresh water tank. Like others have said it doesn't hurt to leave a few gallons of water in the tank during winter (at least in Tennessee). I have done it for years. There is plenty of room in the tank for expansion when frozen for the minimal amount of water that might not drain out. Just be sure the trailer is level when you drain it so most all will drain out.

Mark

It’s just behind the rear axle. See where the overflow pipe is hanging down on the door side just behind the axle
