The first thing you want to do is take a bunch of pictures of the oxidation on the cap. Send copies of those pictures to
service@jayco.com with your VIN and a letter explaining how the oxidation is spreading. They will respond with instructions as to what you need to do. Jayco is not the only mfr that is encountering this issue.
I had mine done in 2013 just before the warranty expired. Don't depend on the dealer to do this for you. The main intent of the email with pictures directly to Jayco is so they have a notification prior to the warranty expiration date. There will be no problems if the dealer does not contact them in time.
As the service center where I had our cap done said, once the oxidation starts the only way to stop it is to sand the cap all the way down to the fiberglass. They had at least 10 RV's (top of the line $$$$$$$ type) in the shop having the same thing done to them. Waxing or polishing compound may look like it is getting rid of the oxidation, but it is only temporary.
