GMC multipro tailgate won’t open

I have a 2021 GMC 2500 with the multipro tailgate. I’m at the campground and the tailgate will not open. I get a message that the inner tailgate is open. I think that I can still hook up to the 5th wheel as the top will go down but the main gate will not. Anyone have this issue? Anybody know how to manually open the tailgate? The truck is under warranty but I need to get home to get it fixed if possible. Any help is appreciated.

Just a guess here. I would disconnect the trucks battery/batteries for a few minutes. Maybe that will reset something? Maybe you can just pull a fuse?

I have same truck, same year. Neither button works? Did you try pushing the button on the dash that lowers the tailgate? Did you try pushing it closed (as if it's not fully latched)?

I did try the dash button. No change. Also pushed on back to make sure it was fully closed. Found a dealer close by the campground so I will go there in a.m.

I'm still searching the web and I've found many people asking the question. No answers though. Yet

Heading home

Went to the local GMC dealer in Holland,Mi this a.m. smaller dealer but great service. They took me right in and got the tailgate released so I can hook up. Showed me 2 manual release levers behind the tailgate cover.

If I remove one of the black plastic covers I'll see a manual method?

Did the mechanic explain how/why it happened?

Manual release

On my 2021 2500 multipro tailgate the mechanic took off the tailgate bed liner panel. Behind that panel there are electrical mechanisms connected to both ends by each latch. Mine are white. On top of each switch is a small metal lever. That is the manual release.

Does that manual release make it easy to steal the tailgate even though you locked it.

Wait until you start your truck, go back in house with FOB, leave FOB in house, then drive off and then shut your truck off. Better wake up than getting slapped in the face 10 times!

Dealer Installed a new switch

Update to my tailgate issue. The dealer had to replace the inner tailgate switch. With only 1500 miles it was under warranty.
