Holding Tank Indicator

My grey tank that services the kitchen is showing 2/3 full when empty. It just started doing this. I've heard of black water tanks having sender problems but not grey water tanks. Is there any fix...........really have no system to flush them out. Thoughts?

Really not all that unusual to have it occur on the gray tank. Soap scum, food particles, and grease may all be culprits. There are sensor cleaning products you might add to see if it resolves the issue. Might have to add them with enough water then drive it around a bit to agitate things then dump.

My Seneca'a (single) gray tank used to do the same thing. But I installed a SeeLevel monitoring system myself, no issues now!

Just buy some seelevel guages if you want accurate readings.

Please tell us about see level gauges. I have tried so many sure thing solutions to the stuck at 2/3 full grey water gauges that I have given up on it.

SeeLevel by Garnet.

Level of difficulty installing is determined how easy it is to access your holding tanks. I had to disassemble parts of my Seneca but I would do it again in a second to have the reliability and convenience I now have. See my install pictures here: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/m...lbums1497.html

Pour some Dawn dish soap in it, fill it up, drive it down the road, flush it real good, and repeat. Some soaking may be required. Works better from full hook to full hook up.

Warmer days work better....

Go buy a small Dawn Dish Soap bottle. Pour the hole bottle down your kitchen sink drain. Fill your tank to almost full. Drive around for 30 minutes then drain. I'd really suggest doing this to all three tanks. How often depends on how much you use your 5ver. I do this at least once every season, sometimes twice.
Good luck in your tank cleaning ordeal. ☺

Not trying to be a smart aleck but if you use dawn soap to wash dishes and your tank shows 1/3 or 2/3 when empty, what’s adding dawn and filling with water going to do different than normal usage?

(I use dawn all the time and my grey shows 1/3 when empty)

You can ex-spend a lot of brain cells trying to keep the oe sensors clean. many claim that they have no problems but the majority either replace them or learn when they need to dump from experience. If you search back on any rv forum, it is a often discussed subject.

I’ve definitely learned when I need to dump. Just trying to learn the rationale of using dish soap in the grey tank as a means to clean sensors when the grey (galley) gets dish soap on a regular basis.

I have tried everything and found it to be a waste of my time. Others swear by their method.

Bo, I think they're referencing the gray tank so if you found out how to get ice into the gray tank let me know.

A bag of ice through the kitchen sink drain hole ? Better be patient and as well wait until the ice melts :-)

I had a similar problem with my 2017 25bh. It was recommended that I dissolve the green bio waste deodorizer drop ins into the GRAY tank. After emptying gray tank a few days later and putting in storage, I was surprised to see gray tank sensor nearly 2/3 full when I set up camp a few weeks later. (Tanks were both emptied after previous trip). I SLOWLY opened the gray tank into a large bucket. The green, gray, greasy sludge that came out was unbelievable! I also caved in and purchased the gray tank “sensor” cleaners and deodorizers hoping to “fix” the sensor problem. So far, it seems to be working. I am a bit more confident the sensors are working as they should.
It was well worth the effort prior to the dealer ripping apart the underbelly of the TT to access the sensors.

I agree with norty1 as we have also tried everything. I would save yourself the frustration of expecting the sensors to work properly because they won’t. What I have learned is to listen to those with a lot more experience than we have because they have “been there, done that”. It would have saved us a lot of the headaches we had in the beginning!

It's been my experience that if all your doing is pressing the sensor button quickly for a tank reading you should try and hold the button down for a few extra seconds. Many times I've had an extra level indicator light go out after holding the button down.
