holding tanks

Hi Folks , New to forum and looking for help. We own a 2005 Designer and after 13 yrs it has holding tank valve issues (not holding) .Has anyone tackled this problem and since the belly is covered where are the tanks ? i need to find the culprit valve or just replace all.

Thanks in advance if you can shed light on this job.

Terry

Hi to you and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, I can't shed any light. BUT a possible work-around would be to install an additional valve that connects where the sewer hose connects. There are a couple of manufacturers that sell them - Valterra is one. That would hold stuff back until you're ready to tackle the bad valve.

You might try sending a hose up the drain pipe with some kind of spray nozzle on the end. You may just have some crud keeping the blade of the shutoff valve from fully seating and making a seal.

Be careful and don't force it too hard if you can't snake it into place.

If you can, try to get Jayco go give you a diagram showing where the shutoff is located. You can cut the underbelly and work on it. It may be rebuild-able or replaceable.

If you cannot see the unit your valve is probably operated by a long rod or a piano wire connection and may need adjustment.

If your valve controls are in the docking station then you may be able to access the valves by removing the basement side panels inside and following the cable. I can get at mine but I don't know how easy it would be to work on them from above.

If you remove the access panel behind the docking station/ utility hatch, you can see where the cables go. I can see my tanks and the cable going to it but have to remove some of the under seal. At least this will give you a pretty idea where to access it.

On mine I can not reach it but can see the valve on the tank from above.
