Jayco Eagle Water Heater Question!
Hi! We recently purchased a 2018 Jayco Eagle 355mbqs and love it! We upgraded from a 2016 Jayco Eagle HT 29.5fbds. In our previous RV, we NEVER ran out of hot water and our family of 4 could shower back to back without ever losing any heat. In our newer RV, we can't shower back to back without the 3rd and 4th shower running out of hot water. I've googled possible issues and found that you can't adjust the temperature on RV water heaters. Is this normal and maybe we just had an extremely good water heater in the 2016 Jayco? If there's no fix, would you recommend upgrading to a tankless? Thanks for your advice!

On our eagle we run the electric for wife's shower. If I jump in after I fire up the propane hw heater as well. Never a cold shower. Turn off propane hw heater when done. Propane side has a lot better recovery time

Ok, thanks for sharing! We never had to do that in our previous Jayco so I assumed something might be wrong with our water heater.

The flow rate of the shower head will affect how long you will have hot water, we have an oxygenics (sp?) and have no hot water issues. The thermostat will limit the temperature that the water reaches, if the temp is low or the thermostat is defective you need more hot water to have a comfortable shower. our thermostat is 140 deg.

For the most part, yeah not adjustable. But our 1st TT had an LP only WH and it had an adjustable thermostat. The TT was a ‘11. If your WH is AC/LP then non adjustable. However I understand there are different temp thermostats avail. Like I said ours is 140deg. By different temps I mean you install a 130, 140, 150 . . . or whatever is available.

You only have a 6 gallon water heater in that huge 5th wheel. Why Jayco does this is beyond me. The Northpoints and Pinnacles have a 10 gallon heater. My suggestion is to run the heater on both gas and electric for the quickest recovery time. I have a 10 gallon heater in my 8 year old Eagle travel trailer and have never run out of hot water.

I would start with the outside faucet. Timing and temps. Fill a five gallon bucket monitoring the time to fill and the water temps ( hot flow only). Do this with just elect heat, then propane, and then both. If your temps are relative to equal then yes a new shower head maybe a solution. I have never found an adjustable tanked water heater. However I have a tankless now, love it, (and yes its adjustable) and I can run hot water all day long. The draw back on a tankless is water consumption. But with 4-5 people I wouldn't consider it an issue..

Mine came with a 10 gallon hot water heater. The wife and I never have a problem running out of hot water. But then we take the "Navy Shower" attitude. I have left it running all the time once taking a shower and did not run out. But we just don't waste water.
