just curious outlet

Just curious if there is any practical or logical reason the exterior outlet on my 28.5 FW is located high on the passenger side front cap and out in the elements. I can think of so many other places to make it more usable.

Mine is the same way and my thoughts are it’s for people who hang lights off their awning so the cord is not in the way. I could be way off but that’s what I’m going with.

Not my trailer but I also made a shelf for where the outside grill mount is and I use a blender/ mixer at this location ( picnic table side).

hopefully no one else has to use it for this, but my wife needs to use an electric scooter part time after tearing her achilles tendon...I park the scooter under the front overhang and plug it in there!

Our old Dutchman had the outlet there for awening lights and it was controlled by a switch on the interior of the RV!

Ours has the same outlet and I too wondered why it is there. Although we aren't ones to hang lights off the awning. It could come in handy any number of things.

I too am not one to hang lights and agree any outlet is always handy but in my previous rigs they always seemed to be placed with some type of logic or in a strategic location. I would be amazed that Jayco went to the trouble of thinking we needed outlets there just for awning lights but you never know with them since they designed this trailer without any porch light except for under the stairs. Something I missed until after I bought it. But that is another thread asking people how they added a light (other than awning lights) without opening walls or ceilings for wiring.

Yea we have the same model as you except a year old and no porch light or LED's in the awning. Our previous 2016 Wildcat had both and we miss them.

You should have led light strip under your awning with the switch located in your control panel by the slide out controls. Mine Is a 2017 and it has them anyways

Must have have been an option as our '17 28.5rsts doesn't have them either.

Could’ve been an option, I’m not sure. Is there a switch in the control panel for awning lights or at least a spot labeled awning lights ? I’m wondering if it’s prewired for the lights just not installed.

We have a 2018 28.5 RSTS and it has the outlet like yours. I use it for a variety of things as well as the one in the storage area. Different strokes I guess.

Be glad it's not behind the entry door when open like ours is. You have to have a 90 degree plug on the cord

I plug my E bikes in and park them under the front as to keep them dry. Really handy place for my use

I just wish we had an outside plug anywhere on our 2019 Precept 31ul. There is one in beside the outdoor tv but you have to leave the door open.

Plug is in the same spot in my 2020 355MBQS. It makes sense that it would be for an awning light, even though there's an led strip in it already. I use it to plug in a bug zapper.
