Ladder

Anyone having a problem with the ladder flexing and bending in. The gorilla at CW who sealed my roof bent the ladder. They were to replace but the one they had did not fit. They bent it straight and now my 170 lbs is flexing and bending it everytime I go up on roof. It seems to be a bad design on my Pinnacle. There are no support between the two bottom mounts and the upper mount. U cannot add a support because of the rear cap window. CW is ordering a new one but Jayco needs pictures to see what kind of ladder I have. That sounds weird since I would think all the FBTS are the same for 2016. Looking around my travel park all the ladders have mid point supports. I kind of wonder if they went with a heavier ladder due to the back cap and window

I have a different unit obviously but am heavier than you and my ladder is rock solid. No movement at all when I go up and down.

I completely understand with regards to Jayco wanting to see a picture of what you have?? I had to send them a photo of my shower enclosure, because they were unsure of which shower enclosure I had. I thought that was a strange one?? I would have thought that all the shower enclosures in the 377's would have been the same.

Ok so u had to do the shower. So it seems they use different vendors (probably who is cheaper). I will bet they had some thinner made than they thought. U cannot have this much room between supports unless it is well made. That is not the best pic but nothing to support in between mounts

Some better pics. Look at the space between supports. There are four steps between supports. All the RVs in my travel park are mostly two and some three but non four.

Rock,,,,you might want to drop BigJohnD a note. I was looking at some of his mods and one of them has pictures of a beefed up ladder support he did on his TT. Infact I'm 6'4" 270 # and plan to use his design on my ladder. Hope this helps you out. Good Luck !

Does yours have a center support? CW thinks it is just a bad ladder and has a thin spot in the tube. You are right about Jayco. Most problems are from after market stuff. My roof and the big awning mount not straight is all Jayco. Even my tire rub is either an LCI or morride problem. Now I have a toilet that leaks water from the flush handle Assy.

No centre support. 4 rungs between.
I know they aren't the best ladder. I'm a little nervous about it failing everytime, but they are good for occasional use. When I was mounting my solar panels I was using a ladder.
I can't believe a big guy tech from a dealer would even attempt to climb a customers ladder.
They have alternative methods of getting up there.
I say the onus is on CW. Hope they learned a lesson.

Kinked both rungs on our ladder in the middle where I had our 2 bikes mounted with a carrier from all the bounce you get in the rear going down the road.

Looking closely you can see the kink in the pic below;

That's on me!!

Ladder still useable for going up and down.

Installed a 2" receiver on the front of our truck and that's where the bikes now ride...solid. No problem with the view and don't worry about any weather or bugs.

Rock I went and looked at mine today...I have the same supports as you. I can get my 215 lbs up and down without any problems.

Has to be a defect but a poor design it should be thicker with no center support. I have to go up weekly to look and see if any more staples have came thru

That ladder is standard on all the PINNACLES because of the indented rear cap. I'm no lightweight and mine doesn't flex excessively.

Well being a standard ladder I wonder why Jayco needed pictures of the mounts and how many steps it had since they did not know what was on my unit. Maybe they look the same but different brands. Seems weird to me that they did not know what ladder goes on an FBTS

Pics were probably to see the damage, not to verify type.

CW New about it, there guy climbing up bent it. U can see where it gave right at a mid step on the right side. There is a crease just at the bottom of the step on the tube. I actually sent them pics I had from last summer before it bent. They wanted pic of the mounts and how many steps I had. So do some ladders have different amount of steps. The way the cap is designed u cannot have center supports so they should use a heavier ladder. All the class A at my park have way thicker ladders and also center suppiorts. There is an older designer FW behind me and his ladder is thicker and center support. No big deal to change it out. My roof is my concern now. I really think my unit is well made just about all problems are after market like the ladder. But they screwed up on my roof and my awning mount not being straight. Customer service is great and that is what counts.

Just heard back from CW. Jayco told them at least ten weeks for a ladder. Have I said I have been working with another new person who actually calls u back with updates. They even refunded my washer drier install fee when I showed them the pics of the mess they made and lines hooked up backwards. It is like a 180 just happened at CW. Must have a new service manager. Light is finally being seen at the end of the tunnel.

That's what happened at my dealership...They hired new service manager and it was night and day difference. Especially with regards to weekly updates via email and phone. Glad things are working out better for you!
