Leave batteries on converter for the winter, yeah or nay?

On my TT, I'd pull the single battery and bring it home and put it on a Battery Tender for the winter. No converter on board that rig.

Planning on leaving my 377 connected to shore power for the winter, at our seasonal site, and leaving the batteries in place (after checking water level).

Yes or no?

I leave it plugged in and have done so for the past 3 years. My converter doesn't overcharge so water level stays OK.

Modern RV's, yes most definitely! Do check your water level every couple months.

I've left both batteries in my 331 the last three winters hooked to shore power with no problems.

Mine is powered up all the time in my yard. IMO, that's the best way to keep your batteries in good shape unless you are in freezing weather and no heat inside.

I leave our plugged into shore power all year when not in use and no problems, my last set of batteries lasted 7 years before replacing.
We can have very cold winter months sometimes down to zero and I have never had problems, I do check the water once a month. Hope this helps

I wouldn't have any concern over harming the battery, but since mine is parked close to the house I usually leave power off. I connect it during the day to charge the batteries if they need it, but then disconnect. In the 30 years we have lived at this house, three RVs in our neighborhood have burned, one burned the house down. To me it isn't worth the risk and I don't have another place to park it and keep the city from ticketing me.

I have allways kept our 5er hooked up to power when not traveling. Also, allways had sealed deep cycle batteries. Received Feb 2011 and one got weak in 2016 so went for both changed.

You have a newer 5ver that has a good charge controller, so your fine. I would double check the water level in each cell. Both before and after winter. If you have to add water remember only to use DISTILLED water.

I have always keep my rigs plugged in. Batteries were never replaced in 10 years in my 2002 Jayco Jayflight. My rig in 2012 we kept for 2 years and no problem. My rig in 2014 is my current Jayco Eagle 5th wheel and is now 4 years old. We have kept all our rigs plugged in when not in use. I do check the water level at least twice a year but seldom have to even add water. Our rigs get used at least monthly so everything is pretty much kept in use. I feel the worse thing you can do is let a rig sit around unused. Especially tires!

Another one here for keeping the trailer plugged in when parked at home.

I have always used the battery disconnect when storing my unit. That way no load is on the batteries and they are good to go every time I use the FW. I have done this for 5 years and never had any problems.

We can leave ours plugged in at home but since temps get down to -40 we take batteries out and store in garage and unplug for the winter. Don't have to be concerned about batteries, converters burning out or much of anything..

I removed battery since it’s in a storage yard. Brought a cheap battery charger/tender for the winter and hooked it up for the spring.

battery charging, off season

I leave mine in the 5er, battery switch on and unit is connected to shore power WITH a timer in the circuit and it is on 2 hours each day!
