New Eagle HT 27.5bhs. Level issues and wrong sky light
Well picked up a 2014 Eagle HT 27.5bhs last friday. Towing it with a stock 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 SB CC CTD with stock 17" wheels and stock 265 tires. B&W turnoverball with B&W Companion slider. The major thing noticed during PDI was as you moved the slide in, the sky light on the top of the slide would contact the seal as it went under and compress, then make a loud noise as it snapped back up after passing. The dealer contacted JAyco and they said the wrong skylight was installed into some so they have to send out a new sky light....ughhh.. I'm 2:45 minutes from the dealer.
2nd thing is that I don't think I'll be able to get it level without some major modifications. Companion is at its lowest setting, no adjustments on the spring hangers, axles are turned all ready. Only adjustment I see that may be able to be made is to raise the pin box the remaining hole which is about 1". That definitely won't get this to level.

Congrats. Sorry about the issues out of the gate. On all the HT's for some reason it seems they sit low in the rear compared to the Eagles. There are numerous threads in this forum specific to the HT leveling mods. From what I have read over the years it seems axle blocks are the best remedy. From the looks of things 2.5-3" would do it. Perhaps you could work it into your revisit with the dealer for your time. Even if you paid for the blocks and they supplied the labor it would be worth it. Worth a shot.

Congratulations, got mine (HT 27.5 BHS) last Oct. Froze the first night, furnace supply hose kinked, dealer (25miles away) fixed it the next day on site. Please let 27.5ers know if your bunk room is like a sauna, mine is. I tried a plastic adjustable grate - it melted. Latest is a dripping by-pass valve on the water heater. Didn't get the slide sky light. Unless something else really goes South, this a lot less than my previous two TTs. I really like this 5th wheel. The one item I should have considered is dual pane windows.

i just got the same one, just noticed that one of the propane lines coming out of the distribution block is kinked, and the radio volume knob does not work for some reason, oh well im gonna call the dealer tmo,
i never knew there was an option for a skylight in the slide sounds interesting
im towing mine with a slightly lifted f150 and it seems to sit pretty flat for me

How far can you turn without moving the slider? Looks like you have pretty good clearances other than the leveling issue. I'd like a 5'er eventually. I'm not sure if there's any real reason, or if I just see it as more of a "legit" RV...

i know your asking the OP but i can tell you i had to get the sidewinder for my application puts the pivot point under the trailer so you get an extra 22in of clearance and now i can get almost 90 without sliding the hitch

I am getting ready to take delivery of my Ram 3500 Megacab I ordered 6 weeks ago and am seriously considering the Eagle HT 29.5, but I am having serious doubts about getting it to ride level with a 2014 3500 Cummins SRW. I am pretty sure the wheels are 15 inch (and not able to order it with 16, right?). I obviously will have enough truck for something much bigger, but the floorplan of the 29.5 is almost exactly what I want (rear double bunk beds vs 30inch wide bunks). Have you been able to get yours more level??

No, and I don't believe it's just a HT issue on a 3/4 ton truck as I've seen HTs having issues too. I'm about 6" different front to back. I have 7" at the very front of the 5er to me rails and 6.5 at the tail gate. I can raise the pinbox about 2" bit that's it and that would reduce my clearances which I don't want. I believe I will be putting in a subframe with a buddies help.

Thanks. Not sure what BW could do. It's not a hitch issue imho as if the hitch was lower it would give unacceptable rail clearance.

So is it safe to assume it is a trailer/truck issue? The combination just doesnt work well together? That is what I am scared of....getting 2 brand new units and them not working well (ie not able to get level) together

I don't believe one can get this level with a truck this height and a box with walls this high and maintain 6" of clearance without mods. If you look at the 1st page it looks like Careys f150 isn't level either. From looks if he went and measured I'd guess it's off. Here's a pic underneath

Just finished putting the subframe under it to get it close to level. We did it in two days. Also added the wet bolt kit. Replaced those stupid plastic bushings. Lol

I replied to your pm so you should have one in your inbox.
I believe it tows better than before. Certainly no worse. Have noticed no top heavy symptoms or instability. Have towed over 5k miles since install. It's made it a lot easier getting in to dry camping areas in national forests etc. We do 95% dry camping and a lot just out in national forests not in campgrounds. Am 100% satisfied so far. I've got between 7 and 8 inches of clearance above the bed as I need it where we go.
I haven't measured the overall height. This was a net 5" subframe as I pulled the 1" they had on the bottom of the I beam and installed the 6. By specs it should still be under 13'. I'm still not quite level but it's close and I'm happy with it. I'm planning on upgrading the wheels to 16" wheels shortly which will also raise it some (not the reason I'm going that route...just want better tires).
