No Silver Insulation in Storage Area??
So, after seeing a few pics of other folks who had bought new 29.5BHDS' we noticed that just about all of them has silver insulation on the top side in both the front alcove storage and rear outside compartment storage. But, when we looked at our new 2016, there was no insulation of any kind. Now, could it be because we bought ours on the west coast and others bought theirs on the east coast, that ours was not insulated?
Having said that, ours also has the "Climate Shield" sticker affixed on our trailer. How can this be? Why would Jayco insulate some and not others? We feel we'd been jibbed! We would love to have insulation added to our trailer, regardless of which part of the country we live in.

Could it be because you had an early build date?
If you find a unit built earlier then yours you would have a pretty strong case.
I had an early build date and missed out on the kick panel LED lights.
"Subject to change without notice"
I guess the best they could do now is cut the silver wrap into sections and silver tape it in and that wouldn't be worth the hassle to you.
Post an update of what happens...very interesting.

So when I first got mine, I said, I should insulate the basement. I went outside to see how much I would need and it was already there. Its a 2016 Eagle HT 29.5 BHDS. I took delivery on Nov 5th 2015. I ordered it on Aug 13, 2015 so maybe this will help you.

Call em up and ask em. Make sure to have your VIN available cuz they don't do anything without that.

I did call customer service, but of course they didn't believe me. So, I had to send another email to Jayco's service department, as they didn't understand why some trailer has it and some don't. Very frustrating.

All my Eagle has in the basement is a wood "roof". Is that my bedroom floor? Is there supposed to be insulation there on the basement side? Do you think the insulation is sandwiched between the plywood and something else? I went to the Jayco website and watched their Climate Shield video (I have the sticker on my 5th too) but it wasn't very enlightening. (Go to Jayco/About Jayco/Jayco Difference). It says they subjected their test rv's to very high (100) and very low (0) temps for 8 hours each and they maintained a temp of 68 degrees! They don't say if they had heat or air running during these tests but if they didn't I think I got robbed because I know for a fact my Eagle wouldn't stay at a nice comfortable temp!

In 2016 Jayco put the foil insulation under the bedroom floor.
Even the 2015 Pinnacles didn't have it.
I thought it was just 2016 NorthPoint and Pinnacles that got it, but it looks like it is all the 5th wheel model lines that got it.

My '16 doesn't have it there either but as said above, it's my understanding the insulation is in the basement as that is supposed to be heated as well.

Are all the basements heated on this model? Or only ones with the climate package? If its the latter, perhaps they don't insulate ones with the climate package because it's heated. Just the opposite of what one would think.

Are you sure they are heated basements? I haven't seen any open ducts to heat the area.

Look around real good. Mine is older but has a heat register in the duct and also vented areas under the steps for air movement in the storage area and down in the holding tank areas.
The storage area in front is insulated and sealed from the other big storage area. This is where a generator would be mounted.

Perhaps someone who has been to the factory and paid particular attention to that part of the process could chime in? I just looked in my basement for vents/ducts etc. There are two rather small openings in the wood roof (in the middle of the basement at each end) where I can see that shiny round flexible duct stuff (like used to vent a dryer). I keep my indoor/outdoor thermometer probe in my basement and as I am sitting here it is currently 68 inside and 53 out (in the basement). Weather.com says it is 53 outside where I am at. Guess my thermometer is working right . However, I have had heat on this morning and I reached up and felt that ducting and it didn't feel warm so...???? I still love my Eagle even if I don't understand absolutely everything (yet - working on it).

I have a 3" duct just lying loose behind the basement wall and the top of the basement wall is open but the front of the basement wall to the front compartment is sealed

I don't believe the point of heating the basement is to keep it as warm as the living quarters. Just enough to keep things from freezing.
For what it's worth, I camped in mine over Easter weekend. It was around 20 degrees at night so the furnace was running a bunch. Come morning when I got ready to leave, I could feel that it was noticeably warmer in the basement when putting my stuff away so heat must be getting in there.

I have submitted the pics below to Jayco rep and will now wait and see how he responds. My feeling is that if Jayco was going to slap the Climate Shield sticker on my trailer, they could at least have these areas insulated. I'll keep everyone posted.

My 2015 Eagle does not have the insulation in the basement, but it does have vents from the furnace warming the area.

My 2016 has the insulation in the front basement, but not in the back storage under the bunk area. I am curious as to what they are going to tell you.

Your picture look precisely like mine which also has the Climate Shield insulation package.
That IMO is why they don't insulate interior walls.
