Pizza Stone in Gas oven?

When I picked up my new 2013 31.5 RLTS, during the walk thru, it was stated I could put a pizza stone in the oven and this would improve the heat distribution in the oven to make for better use. Has anyone heard of this or tried this for more even heat within the oven when using. Welcome your input. Thanks

We keep one in our oven, and it does work.

Inverted cookie pan works as well. That is what I use. I have read were others have used unglazed tiles from the big box hardware places as well that work.

Earthen ware pizza stone, directly on diffuser. It eliminates hot spots and removes the way, way uneven heating. Wife has been doing this for years.

I had a pizza stone for the last few years and it worked well as a heat defuser, however it recently broke while in use. It broke right along the line of the burner. I have tried tiles which also broke in use. I am now using a 10" Lodge cast iron round griddle that I hacksawed the handle off of. It seems to be working well.........I don't think it will break, but time will tell.

Where do you put it when it is not in use? Seems like it could do some damage if left in the oven while traveling.

I plan on leaving it in the oven as I did with the pizza stone. There were no ill effects that I can tell.

Mine sits in there just fine, never had an issue --- only when you put something frozen on it when it is hot.....
