Question on sewer flush port

Does the water that goes through the sewer flush port on our Pinnacle flush both grey and black tank, or just the black?

Thank you Grumpy. There is a little placard by the port that says "Warning, make sure all sewer valves are open before flushing" (or something to that affect), so do I just need to have the black valve open? Probably dumb question, but just want to be sure.....

That's actually a cya for JAYCO. The correct way to use it is, dump, close the valve, let the tank partially fill and dump again. You should do that a couple times then let it run with then valve open.

Just don't walk away after you close the valve while the flush is running.

I always set the timer on my phone for 10 minutes when doing this. You don't want to forget.

Just what Grumpy and dzwiss said. I made the mistake early on. I didn't set the phone timer as I filled the tank a third time for a good cleaning. Created a perfect storm; neighbor came by with a question, the tank filled (and pressurized) and the wife hit the flush... Fortunately it was the third tank and very clean water. It only took a few minutes to clean up but it's a life time of grief from the wife, LOL. Lesson learned, shared and never repeated.

X2. I let it run for 4 minutes before I open the valve. I do this 2-3 times depending on his "clean" the flow is after each.

And I do stand there with a stop watch while the valve is closed and the flush water is on.

Before using the flush port, its important to make sure the flush valve does not leak. You do this by hooking up the hose and have someone [in my case under the bathroom sink] use a flash lite to view the valve as you turn on the hose outside. Be ready to yell if water starts leaking out of the vent on the valve. Ask me how I know what can happen if you don't follow this suggestion.

I have yet to repair [actually eliminate] the valve after my last "flush" attempt. I estimate I dumped a couple gallons into the bathroom, under the sink and shower and spread under the pantry and into the bedroom. Took the rest of the day to dry it all out. I was one of the last to learn that these valves are infamous for leaking.
