Removing the slideout

Hello all. I joined this group in hopes of getting help removing the slide to replace the carpeting. I own a 1998 32' Designer with a rear kitchen. I've read where a lot of posts where people just rip or pull the carpet out from under the slide. But if its possible I'd rather remove the slide and do it right.
also any thoughts on the type of carpet would be best to use in a camper.

I would get a commercial grade carpet that has like a clear rubberized coating on the back side. Reason being is regular home carpet has backing thats rather hard and brittle and running the slide in & out brakes down the backside and it crumbles and that's what the industry uses. It's not really for trailer use because it needs the padding underneath it to lessen the crumbling. The commercial carpet is real easy to clean and it will always look fresh and never crumble.
