schwintek slide

With all the complaints I hear about this slide system, is there any reason that any of the RV companies keep it? I would guess that there is many more out there that work just fine than what does not.

As with anything, you only hear from the disgruntled owners.

My understanding is that the Schwintek slide gets a bad rap due to improper use by manufacturers. Apparently, the Schwintek design was for light, small slides, but manufacturers started using it on all sorts of large and super slides.

Jayco used to use Schwintek on the 377’s kitchen slide, long and heavy, but as of 2018, they switched to Slimrack on that slide, and use Schwintek only on the much smaller bunk and bedroom slides.

So, it might be improper deployment that earned Schwintek its bad rep, not the actual design itself.

I've had no problems with my Schwintek slides they work great. I do have problems with my Slimrack since new. It's been back to dealer twice but still has problems. I think most of the problem is it's CW.

Curious to know what problem your Slimrack has.

When new it was smooth but liked about 11/2 in closing all the way on the fridge end. Also would not open all the way on same end. They kept it three weeks and said they were having problems getting it to work. When picked up it close better not all the way but enough to seal. It also pops and is jerky. It only worked about 3 or 4 times. After next fix when opening or closing it likes about 11/2 going out or in you can go away for a min or so push button again and it will finish opening or closing which ever your doing. It still pops and not very smooth.

1st problem is it's a Lippert product. 2nd is the RV MFG installation and 3rd is owners not using them correctly. The old Rack type are way more reliable but heavy as all heck. With the trend towards light weight, MFG's are cutting corners where ever they can. Buyers are paying the price for it.

Our Schwintek bedroom slide has been flawless and I’ve found that our Lippert slide works a great deal more smoothly if I lubricate it immediately after we arrive at our destination.

Thetford Slide Out Lubricant. Available from Amazon. The difference is like night and day when you keep the Lippert slide lubricated.

We have not had any issues with ours, it is a big heavy slide, its a 2017 model now if they changed to a different slide system for this big heavy kitchen slide, than they knew the installed system was not designed for that big of slide ??? and if Jayco installed that system on a big slide knowing it was not made for a big slide and now install a different system ,Just my 2 cents, they should have a repair(IF there is a issue) so far so good for us !! OK rant over

Any dry lube with PTFE. I also spray all the tracks.

Shwintek won’t get any rave reviews from me or Jayco either for using such a worthless piece of #<>T
First time retracting the kitchen slide was a no go. Tried all the reprogram tips and nothing worked. It is totally out of sync. Took the screws out of the motors and lifted them above the gear and there is no way in heck my wife and I can manually push in the slide as suggested by shwintek. So now we are stuck. Can,t move it unless they send 8 or 10 guys out to push it in or fix it on the spot.

Big Schwintek slides don't work. Our Pinnacle has 5 slides 4 of them Schwintek. The slides are only 6' wide. They work great. Our North Point had a long slide with a refrigerator. It was just too much weight.

There is also another big problem out there! The out riggers or frame supports under that kitchen slide are bending.Lippert felt the problem was so serious they manufactured a support replacement! Bet you won't here that from JAYCO!
