Yes, you can. BUT, you should not do it with either one. You lose the side stability designed into the suspension system and create side loads on components that are not designed for that kind of load.
Trailers are really a bad choice for this since it would take very little to torque the frame or spring mounts. Better to add a 'sub frame' which will include some cross members for added stability.
