Slide out floor repair

Has anyone attempted to repair their own slide out floor? Apparently have about 4-5 inches bad on the end of the dining slide out….but it does not go to outside corner…..so it would be about 6 inches by 30 inches to replace….may try and get to it this weekend….any suggestions from experience or otherwise appreciated…I just discovered it when inspecting it in detail this past weekend…..

Well…..I can already see it’s not going to go as easy as the YouTube vid indicates due to differences in construction of the slide room….but we will give it a shot anyway….hopefully in 4 days we can figure it out….

Spoke to a friend in South Carolina who has his own repair business last night…he gave me a few tips and some cautions…..he is also busy like the dealers and has dozen RVs needing repairs…..6 for roof repairs….he cancelled his vacation with us at Myrtle Beach next week due to his workload and everyone screaming for their RVs…..said he is working 7 days a week….but help would be only a phone call away…..so we start this morning….

Well….got it finished…the slide goes in and out like it’s supposed to….wife and I figure it took about 16 hours to complete….but it can be done at home…or on the farm as in my case….I have lots of pics but don’t know how to post here…..going to give it the real test starting next week with two weeks at the beach to celebrate….

Click on the paper clip and it will then tell you to select the file/s you want to attach.

Hopefully you will figure out how to post pictures. I, for one, would like to see them.
And I want to know why your floor went “bad”. What happened?

Klassic….the leak occurred at the bottom of my dining slide closest to the entry door….the black plastic strip that covers the edge and goes under the slide for about 3 inches is called a “slide ski”….the edge of the slide ski came out from under the metal trim at the bottom of the slide where the siding ends and the slide ski starts which covers the end of the floor that partially is lower than the siding….it looked to me as thought the trim piece was installed to far up so the screws in the trim did not contact and hold the edge of the slide ski that was under the metal trim…..only about two inches had come loose but apparently has been for some time…just lucky I caught it when I was inspecting my camper for any areas that needed caulking…..text me at 434-989-3644 and I will send you some pics….

Yes..it took some courage…but don’t sweat it…just take your time,,document everything with pics…measure twice before cutting….think it thru…then just get started….and once you have that big hole in the floor…you will figure out how to fix it…..just do it in logical steps….it took my wife and I about 16 hours from start to finish….but …we had fun…took some breaks…talked about it a lot and got’er done….and she didn’t charge me anything for her input….

slide floor repair

My main seal is damaged and will need replacing, did you have to replace?
I need a source , not sure if it is unique to Jayco?
Got started.
