What is this?

I have noticed what appears to be a sensor mounted in our ceiling and cannot get an answer as to what it is and what does it do. Any body have one of these or know what it is for?

Looks like a push pin retainer. Like used in shower wall panels.

It is one single piece, and does not appear to retain anything at all.

I think Mopar is right. Possibly the dealer, factory or PO used it to remove a sag in the ceiling panel. If that’s the case I’d worry why a ceiling panel was sagging. A bad case scenario is a roof leak.
Search the ceiling panels and walls carefully for water stains paying particular attention to the edges and take pics if you find any. If you bought new I’d ask dealer. I’d expect a “it’s normal” or “came fm factory that way” reply. If you don’t get a reasonable answer fm the dealer email Jayco asking if it’s normal construction. If the answer is “dealer did it” reply you suspect water damage and provide the pics.
Down the road if that turns out to be the case you will have documented the issue.

If you are not the first owner you may be on your own.

What year and model do you have. Did you buy it new or used? If someone has the same unit they might chime in. Never seen anything like that in any camper I've been in.

Pic of one. Common to find in RV shower panels to secure them to the wall. My 2017 Eagle 293RKDS has them and so has some of my previous RV's.

My guess is there was a hole and they stuck that in the hole. Or they are trying to support the panel but normally that's an open cavity.

It is a 2008 35RLTS that we bought new in 2009. I had asked several dealers about this item and they could not provide any info, so we forgot all about it and as I keep looking at it am still curious what it is for.
