Furnace Filter

I have a 2017 37FS and trying to answer a question my wife asked. Doesn’t this furnace have a filter on it?? She seems to be finding way too many dust bunnies. To no avail I have not found one. Am I just blind or is there no filter on this furnace.

No filter for furnace. And the A/C foam filters leave much to be desired also!

If there is??

If there is, I have not noticed one. I will enjoy seeing the replies from some of the more experienced members.

I did forget to add......there is a cabin air filter in the Freightliner HVAC system if that makes you feel better!

If that is the case, has anyone installed a thin foam filter on the cold air return to semi prev ent some of the dirt going thru the ducts??

Yes.
But there is so much other infiltration and leakage it was a exercise in futility.

Thanks. Maybe we notice it more this winter because of higher usage compared to last year.

On my list is to take a standard 'upgrade' home furnace air return filter (the denser white fibrous one, not the cheaper one you can see through) and cut it to match the foam ones in the RV overhead returns and the furnace. Will filter much better, may reduce air noise somewhat, and will be washable. You'll need sturdy scissors to cut through the wire support net on the filter. I did this for a small portable heater and it works well.

Interesting read from the rv doctor site. Especially the last part about filters and restricting air flow.

That references back to the question about adjustable vents.

Grumpy at least with adjustable vents, it will push more air out the non closed vents. But you need to be careful about closing too many of the vents, but never put a filter in the system.

Not necessarily true. X number of sq inches only lets a certain amount of air out. If the total # of vents are sized for the total output you can cause the same type restriction.

Anything that prevents or affects air flow can cause the furnace to not light due to the sail switch mentioned in that article.
