Finally got ahold of a jayco tech about charging the battery when its temperature drops below 5C. The alternator/generator will not provide enough amps to complete the warming process on the battery to begin the charging process, So I guess winter dry camping really isn’t an option without shore power.

Winter dry camping is completely possible with these units. You have two options (actually three but the electronic heater won't cut it). First, you can keep the inside warm by using the diesel heater underneath the unit. It draws very little power since it will cycle on and off due to the temp inside the van. The other option is using a small ceramic heater plugged into one of the 110 outlets. This is best done with a digital ceramic heater that has a thermostat built into it. This will also keep your battery warm in the process

You could get an inexpensive inverter generator, use it to power a small electric heater (or heating pad?) near the battery. When the battery is up to temp plug the shore power into the generator to charge the battery. That might work. Costco has generator deals at times, Champion generators are affordable, and there are others.
