2005 jayco jay flight 29BHS

I have owned this camper since 2007. I want to replace the power cord since the current one is in a bad condition.I am hopeful someone can tell me where the converter is located and how to access it. I’d appreciate any help provided.
Thanks.

mah1961,

Welcome to JOF

In most cases on a 2005 Jayco the converter/charger (IOTA brand) will be mounted on the back of the breaker/fuse box (IOTA Load Center). There were a couple Jayco 2005 models where the converter/charger was located a few feet away from the breaker/fuse box (Load Center) located under your range/oven combo.

The following JOF thread may also be helpful in the removal of the Load Center if required (includes additional links/photos):

As far as replacing the existing 30 amp power cord: "Normally" there is an electrical junction box near the cord storage area where the 30 amp power cord is connected (under the 29BHS kitchen counter). Your IOTA Load Center is located very close to the 30 amp cord storage compartment.

Thank you. So that puts it under or behind the stove and behind the breaker panel. How do I access it? Remove the stove or the breaker panel?

I would first remove (if possible) what appears to be an air vent to the right of the stove/breaker box...., hopefully this will provide a means to view what you are dealing with....., 30amp cord connected directly to converter/charger or junction box.

It's difficult to tell if there is an access means between the sofa and kitchen cabinet (reference following photo from internet)....., is the 'carpet covered box' removable? 30 amp cord storage??.... just thinking out load here.

Reference 2005 29BHS:

It's possible that the 30 amp cord storage box is between the IOTA Load Center and outer wall.

Removing the breaker/fuse box will provide access to the converter/charger if it's mounted to the back of the breaker/fuse box. The following JOF 'link' has a couple pics of a typical IOTA Load Center (breaker/fuse box) upon removal.

Hope this helps.

Bob

That is what my interior looks like. Perfect! The little carpeted box on the left gives no access. Just was curious as to the best way to get behind the breaker panel. There are 2 screws visible on the panel but after removing them, it still was firmly in place. Couldn’t see any visible means to remove that screen like panel on the right. Thank you for all your help.

After removing the outer cover panel, and assuming you removed the screws located around the outer plastic flange of the breaker/fuse box...., I found my breaker/fuse box wedged pretty snug against the wood opening. I was careful once I cleared the wood opening that none of the wires restricted further removal of the box.

By opening the cabinet door under the sink are you able to look-around and see the back of the vent for removal (screws, etc.)? From the the same viewing position, can you see (with flashlight) anything beyond the vertical air vent location?

Just thinking out loud here again

Bob

Great suggestion. I looked in from the door under the sink after removing the spacer panel. I was able to see the junction box is right behind the breaker panel. Now I need to figure how to remove the panel. I am unable to see any screws that will allow for me to get to it. You have been very helpful. Thank you
