2014 White Hawk 28DSBH Cargo Carrier Question

New to RVing. Just purchased a 2014 White Hawk 28DSBH travel trailer. picked up a Champion 4250/3500 inverter generator model 201056 from Cabelas. Weight of the generator is 80 pounds. I can carry the generator in the bed of my tow vehicle but the full walk thru door on my A.R.E. topper wont clear the electric tongue jack when hitched. My thought was using the generator for the ac and microwave when parking overnight at a Walmart on a trip. Having to unhitch to pull it out of the truck would be a pain in the butt. I would like to mount a receiver hitch to the rear bumper of trailer sos I can mount a cargo carrier to haul generator and make it easy to get to when hitched. Thinking of relocating the spare under the a frame Looking for thoughts and such from on doing this mod.

I suggest you invest in a toolbox (like the diamond plate ones that go in a pickup truck) instead of a cargo carrier bumper hitch, and then weld three plates with gussets to your bumper and bolt the toolbox to them. A bumper hitch cargo carrier is not stable and you run the risk of it breaking as it wobbles side to side up and down. The toolbox can also be locked providing security for your generator. Make sure you take into consideration the additional weight on the ass end of your trailer. You could also make the toolbox a "sound box" with insulation and adequate ventilation so as not to annoy your neighbors.
